Speed Up Animations & The UI In iOS 7

I'm quite sure that I'm not alone with the opinion that the feel of iOS 7 is just a bit too slow.  Now, that a jailbreak has been released, we can now begin tweaking iOS 7 to our own tastes.  Follow me after the break to see how I sped up the overall feel of the UI in iOS 7.

Now before we dive into this, please note that this information only applies to the iPhone 5 and older devices.  The tweak for the 5S is being worked on and the 5C is not confirmed.  So, if you're running either of those devices, you are warned.

Alright then, first thing you'll need to do is jailbreak your device.  Head over to Evasi0n for the most recent iOS 7 jailbreak.  This takes about 3-5 minutes to complete. Once you've completed the usual Cydia setup, head over to Sources in Cydia and add these two repos:

http://repo.cydiahacks.com/
http://cydia.myrepospace.com/pwn24k/

Next, install the Bootstrap tweak from PWN24k repo.  You may need to hard reboot after Bootstrap finishes installing if Respring isn't made available.

Now head back into Cydia and open CydiaHacks repo then install HiddenSBSettings... Respring.

Now that we have the necessary tweaks installed on the device, lets get to it.  Bring up your Control Center and you'll notice that the hidden SpringBoard Settings has been revealed.

Be very careful with what you're modifying.  You can always lead to an unusable device, and be forced to restore your device.  But what is nice about this particular feature is that it is an Apple designed settings menu so you can restore everything to default if you get into trouble.

Open up SpringBoard Settings and scroll down to the bottom of the menu and slide into Animation Overrides.   Once you're in, go ahead and slide the Slow Factor bar to the left.  I have mine set at
.20 seconds.  You can play with this until it meets your taste.

EDIT: No need to toggle Slow Animations

Now as a personal preference I've enabled the Reduce Motion in the iOS Settings app because the Parallax feature in iOS isn't necessary for me.  Also, I don't really like the way folders open with Reduce Motion disabled.  You can try it yourself by heading over to Settings > General > Accessibility > Reduce Motion and toggle it on.

What's great about this tweak is that you can modify how apps open, the way navigating happens, even your lockscreen layout.  There are a lot of different features you can modify, but once again, be very careful.

At this point you should notice a huge difference in the feel of the UI.  Apps open quicker, navigation is faster and the overall experience of  iOS is much better.  Leave any questions in the comments section and I'd love to help you out.

One thing I want to mention, if you modify anything that brings up a keyboard, just press the Enter icon to lower the keyboard.  This took me awhile to figure out. :)

Cheers guys,
Nathan

P.S.  This information is for entrainment purposes only.  I, nor Blogger, take any responsibility for broken or damaged equipment, loss of information or any other liabilities whatsoever.  You're attempting these modifications at your own risk.  But it worked for me, and I'm still alive. ;)

(UPDATE): The method described above seems to reset after a respring or reboot.  Easy enough to repeat, however.  I'll update a fix if one is found.
